Our WSET Awards in Wines and SkillsFirst Certificate in Wine Service courses are well-structured with very clear progression routes. These qualifications are recognised and regulated by the UK Government.

So why not start your wine journey with WSET Level 1, a fun-filled one-day course? By completing a short multiple-choice question paper, you will even gain a recognised qualification in wine to impress your friends and your boss!

We also run saké and spirits courses.

The 100% online course "Level 2 Certificate in Wine Service (RQF)" gives hospitality professionals the fundamental wine knowledge required to sell and serve with confidence, and the soft skills required to drive the guest experience. The online content is developed by the hospitality training specialist WineEd. The course is fully accredited by SkillsFirst and regulated by Ofqual.

Course Synopsis:

  • Wine styles, colours, grapes and regions

  • Storage, presentation and service of wine

  • Guest expectations, interaction and handling objections

  • Food and wine pairing

  • Practical sales boosting techniques

After successful completion, you will receive a certificate recognised by the UK Government.

No previous experience of wine tasting or wine knowledge is necessary to register on this course. However, you must be of legal drinking age (18+ years old).

For individuals new to wine study, this qualification provides a hands-on introduction to the world of wine. You will explore the main types and styles of wine through sight, smell, and taste, while also gaining the basic skills to describe wines accurately, and make food and wine pairings.

  • Common wine grapes and their characteristics

  • How to store and serve wine

  • The principles of food and wine pairing

  • How to describe wine using the WSET Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine® (SAT)

Learn about wines through a 4-week online study programme that is flexible to work around your existing commitments. The Level 1 Award in Wines Online covers the same syllabus as the classroom course, but through a supported and interactive Online Classroom which allows you to study alongside your peers under the guidance of a dedicated educator. Please note that while the course is conducted online, the exam is completed in person at our venue in London.

For individuals seeking a core understanding of wines, this qualification explores the major grape varieties and important wine regions in which they are grown. You will learn about the styles of wines produced from these grapes as well as key classifications and labelling terminology. A basic overview of the key categories of spirits and liqueurs will also be provided.

  • How wine is made

  • What factors influence wine style

  • The key white and black grape varieties and their characteristics

  • The important wine-producing regions of the world in which these grapes are grown

  • The production of sparkling, sweet, and fortified wines

  • Label terminology

  • Food and wine pairing principles

  • The principal categories of spirits and liqueurs, and how they are made

  • How to describe wine using the WSET Level 2 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine® (SAT)

 

This course is for those working in the industry or wine and spirit enthusiasts.

After successful completion, you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin, and will be able to use the associated WSET certified logo.

For individuals seeking to delve deeper into the world of wines, this qualification provides a detailed understanding of grape growing and wine making. Upon completion you will be able to assess wines accurately, and use your understanding to confidently explain wine style and quality.

  • The key factors in the production of wine: location, grape growing, winemaking, maturation and bottling

  • How these key factors influence the key characteristics of the principal

  • Still wines of the world

  • Sparkling wines of the world

  • Fortified wines of the world

  • How to apply your understanding to explain wine style and quality

  • How to taste wines, describe their characteristics and evaluate their quality, using the WSET Level 3 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine® (SAT)

 

This course is for professionals working in the wine industry and for wine enthusiasts.

After successful completion, you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin, and will be able to use the associated WSET certified logo.
