VSF Wine Education is proud to be one of the very few Approved Programme Providers in London accredited by the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) to offer WSET Awards in Spirits at Levels 1 & 2. The qualifications are recognised and regulated by the UK Government’s Office of Qualifications & Examinations Regulation (Ofqual).

These course are designed to introduce you to the world of spirits in an interactive, structured and concise manner.

We also run wine and saké courses.

So you want to taste spirits like a pro? We have carefully curated sample-sized spirits (20ml each) for you to taste at home using the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting® (SAT) developed by the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) - the world's leading awarding body in wine, spirits and saké education.

Beginner Level

Learn about spirits through a 4-week online study programme that is flexible to work around your existing commitments. The Level 1 Award in Spirits Online covers the same syllabus as the classroom course, but through a supported and interactive Online Classroom which allows you to study alongside your peers under the guidance of a dedicated educator. Please note that while the course is conducted online, the exam can be completed either in person at our venue in London or online from the comfort of your home.

Beginner to Intermediate Level

​Learn about spirits and liqueurs through a 5-week online study programme that is flexible to work around your existing commitments. The Level 2 Award in Spirits Online covers the same syllabus as the classroom course in a supported and interactive Online Classroom which allows you to study alongside your peers under the guidance of a dedicated educator. Please note that while the course is conducted online, the exam can be completed either in person at our venue in London or online from the comfort of your home.

Beginner Level

For individuals new to the subject, this qualification offers a hands-on introduction to the world of spirits. You will explore the main styles and types of spirits through sight, smell, and taste to develop an understanding of the key factors affecting flavours and aromas. 

Course Synopsis:

  • The basic principles of spirit production

  • The main types and styles of spirits

  • How to serve spirits

  • Factors affecting the flavour of spirits

  • How to describe spirits using the WSET Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting Spirits® (SAT)​

 

This course is for those starting a career in the industry or pursuing an interest in spirits.

After successful completion, you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin.

No previous experience of spirit tasting is necessary to register on this course.

Beginner to Intermediate Level

For individuals wishing to develop their expertise in spirits and liqueurs, this qualification provides comprehensive training. You will learn about the production methods and characteristics of the main spirit categories, while also exploring the use of spirits in cocktails.

 

Course Synopsis:

  • How production methods affect the characteristics of spirits and liqueurs

  • The characteristics of the principal international spirits and liqueurs

  • How to describe spirits using the WSET Level 2 Systematic Approach to Tasting Spirits® (SAT)

 

This course is for those working in the industry or spirits enthusiasts

After successful completion, you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin and will be able to use the associated WSET certified logo.

In order for you to progress step by step and avoid any "blind spots" in your spirits study, you are strongly encouraged to have completed the WSET Level 1 Award in Spirits programme before registering on this course.
