This e-Learning course is the ideal way to discover this fascinating Japanese beverage from home or on the go.
Delivered in English via the WSET Online Classroom platform, this official digital course, administered by the WSET headquarters, offers total schedule flexibility, free from set timings. You can participate at your convenience, interacting with fellow students from around the world as well as a Certified Educator assigned by the WSET headquarters.
Course Duration: 12 hours over 4 weeks, with a recommended minimum study time of 3 hours per week to successfully complete the course. The course is delivered asynchronously (i.e. no fixed timings), allowing you to complete the modules at your own pace within the 4-week study period. You are welcome to work ahead and complete all modules in advance. After the course concludes, you will continue to have access to the course content for one year. However, access to the discussion forum will no longer be available.
Sake Samples: If you are based in the UK, you have the choice to add the optional tasting kit, which includes 7 full bottles of sake (a mix of 250-720ml bottles), for an additional cost of £165. This price covers shipping to a Mainland UK address. Please anticipate a 5-to-7-day delivery period. Further details can be found here. For those living outside the UK, once you have signed up for the course, you will be provided with guidance on the recommended sake styles to acquire locally.
If you're based in Guernsey, the sake bar and shop Tokkuri is happy to provide the tasting kit locally. Please place your order directly with them, rather than selecting the tasting kit option during course registration.
Examination: The examination consists of 30 multiple-choice questions to be completed within 45 minutes. A minimum score of 70% (21 out of 30 questions) is required to pass. You may choose to take the exam either online (additional fee of £30) or in person (free of charge) on a date of your choice. Successful candidates will receive an official WSET digital certificate. Please ensure that your exam booking is made at least 15 days in advance. Click here for further details and exam registration. The online examination may be taken worldwide, except in Mainland China and the UAE (including Dubai and Abu Dhabi). However, the online course itself is accessible from anywhere in the world.
Digital Certificates: Successful candidates will receive an official WSET digital certificate. You can order a physical Lapel Pin from us for a fee. Click here for our blog post on WSET Digital Certificates.
