This e-Learning course is the ideal way to discover this fascinating Japanese beverage from home or on the go.
Delivered in English via the WSET Online Classroom platform, this official digital course, administered by the WSET headquarters, offers total schedule flexibility, free from set timings. You can participate at your convenience, interacting with fellow students from around the world as well as a Certified Educator assigned by the WSET headquarters.
Course Duration: 4 weeks with a minimum of 3 hours study per week recommended to successfully complete the course. The course is asynchronous: You are free to complete the modules at your own pace during this 4-week window. After that, you'll still have access to the content for one year, although you won't be able to participate in the discussion forum and interact with your classmates anymore.
Sake Samples: If you are based in the UK, you have the choice to add the optional tasting kit, which includes 7 full bottles of sake (a mix of 250-720ml bottles), for an additional cost of £165. This price covers shipping to a Mainland UK address. Please anticipate a 5-to-7-day delivery period. Further details can be found here. For those living outside the UK, once you have signed up for the course, you will be provided with guidance on the recommended sake styles to acquire locally.
Examination: The exam comprises 30 multiple-choice questions to be completed within 45 minutes. To pass, you must answer at least 70% of the questions correctly. You can take the exam online (for an extra £30) or in person (for free) on a date of your choice. Successful students will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin. Please book your exam at least 22 days in advance. Click here for details and exam registration.
Digital Certificates and e-Badges: From 1 April 2025 onwards, successful candidates will receive a Digital Certificate and an e-Badge instead of the paper version. You can order a physical Lapel Pin from us for a fee from 1 May 2025 onwards. This applies to students registering for their exam on or after 1 April 2025 only (exam registration date, not the exam date itself). If you have signed up for an exam on or before 31 March, even if the exam itself will take place on or after 1 April, you'll still receive the paper version.
